Words Matter Week 2013

Join us March 3-9, 2013 for a celebration of Words Matter Week! This year, we’re focusing on clarity of expression. The chosen quote is by John Ray:

Words Matter Week 2013

He that uses many words
for the explaining of any subject doth,
like the cuttlefish,
hide himself for the most part in his own ink.

Words Matter Week Blog Topic Suggestions

  1. If you had to eliminate one word or phrase from the English language, what would it be? Why?
  2. Writers are artists with words as their medium. What author is your favorite word stylist?
  3. What person in your life helped you understand the importance of choosing words carefully? What would you say to them if you met them today?

  1. 2. I like your choice of the term “word stylist”. First there was ‘hair stylist’, then politicians and their spouses began to have “sylists” to guide them in their choice of clothing. Recently I saw an amusing YouTube video about a “food stylist” whose job it is to make those Big Mac hamburgers look especially juicy and appealing. Nice.
    “Word stylist”. Good choice!
